JADE DEYOE IS THE OWNER AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF SMARTER SURFER
Jade Deyoe hails from Salt Lake City, Utah. Bordered by the buoyant waters of the Great Salt Lake and the snow-capped peaks of the Wasatch range, Jade spent his youth maneuvering through the static of a conservative culture while dreaming of the emerald waves and sandy beaches of California. At eighteen, with the company of his enterprising mother, two Labrador puppies, and a cheap camcorder, Jade set out to realize his childhood dreams. He wasted two years of his youth in community college before he decided he could teach himself everything he ever wanted to know about cinematography at the college of YouTube, tuition-free during lulls in the surf. To earn cash for his creative endeavors, Jade became a man of many trades; parking cars for tips at The Hyatt La Jolla, mixing up some killer guacamole at El Caribe, Carlsbad, and photographing used cars for internet dealers. Jade finally got his big break when he took a job as a P.A. at Fox Sports San Diego. Hours were long and equipment was heavy but Jade focused on absorbing industry knowledge and putting his unique spin on countless sports-related features. From there, he landed the role of Executive Producer for Smarter San Diego, a local TV show providing stimulating insight on all things San Diego. This position soon gave way to the premiere of Smarter Surfer, currently the only show about surfing in San Diego. The first fILM created for Smarter Surfer is a biopic on professional big wave surfer, Frank Solomon, rider for Hurley, who tells his harrowing story of injury, rehabilitation and subsequent return to the sport in a film short aptly titled, “NEVER FALLING”. Jade is 28 and lives in Ocean Beach, California.
